Northern Nigeria's First Children's Festival

Th case of rights in Nigeria is one where when you consider the hierarchy of human needs, when government responsibility to the people declines and descends to depths below the dignity of purposeful living to a mere survivalist existence; the right to fundamental education appears a luxury that the government conveniently negelects as the citiizens are in a state of existence now features as a success story.

Pulsing the heart of communities that make up the grand stage of education and impacting these young children into minds and brains that would dream of and participate in the fabric of a life worth living through learning and expression - - the abilities to evolve creatively in thr organic thought process of exciting, creative and intentional management of their aspirations and ambition.

In Kaduna, Nigeria; Read-A-Create launches the first-ever Children’s Creativity Festival Prizes in Arts and writing in Northern Nigeria.

The Read-A-Create Festival proudly announces the inaugural Children’s Creativity Festival Prizes, a groundbreaking initiative designed to celebrate and nurture the artistic and literary talents of young people across Northern Nigeria. This marks the first festival of its kind in the region, offering children the opportunity to showcase their imagination through both creative writing and visual arts.

The Art Prize invites children aged 7–15 to create original works inspired by Nigerian stories, culture, and characters. Submissions may include paintings, drawings, clay work, or metal work, with themes ranging from traditional heritage to futuristic visions of the Nigerian society. 

The Creative Writing Prize challenges young writers to craft short stories that reimagine Nigerian folktales, traditions, and contemporary life. With categories for juniors (300 words, ages 7–10) and seniors (500 words, ages 11–15), the competition emphasizes originality, problem-solving, and creative thinking beyond clichés.

Prizes and Recognition
- 1st Prize: ₦50,000 
- 2nd Prize: ₦30,000 
- 3rd Prize: ₦20,000 
- Certificates, creative learning gifts, and online publication of selected works 
- Winning entries will be exhibited and celebrated at the Read-A-Create Festival in July 2026

A Platform for Young Voices
The Read-A-Create Festival is committed to empowering children to express themselves through storytelling and art. By encouraging creativity rooted in Nigerian identity, the festival aims to inspire a new generation of thinkers, makers, and dreamers. 

“This initiative is more than a competition—it is a movement to give children in Northern Nigeria a platform to imagine, create, and share their voices with the world,” said the Festival Organizers.
